More Information...

This six-week course is designed to be a fun, positive, and engaging introduction for you and your puppy. Our primary goal is not to create a finished gundog overnight, but to lay the crucial foundations for a strong, lifelong partnership. We will focus on channelling your puppy’s natural instincts and enthusiasm into a willingness to learn and work with you as a team.

Over the coming weeks, we will harness your puppy’s natural desire to hunt and retrieve, building confidence and focus in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

What to Expect

Our sessions will be structured around short, positive exercises perfectly suited to a puppy’s attention span. We will cover the essential building blocks of gundog work, including:

  • Building focus and engagement with you, the handler.
  • The very basics of whistle commands (e.g., the stop and recall).
  • Encouraging a soft mouth and a love for retrieving through play.
  • Foundations of steadiness (sit and wait).
  • Building confidence in different environments.
  • Appropriate socialisation around other dogs in a working context.

What to Bring to Each Session

To get the most out of each class, please bring the following:

  • Your puppy on a standard flat collar or slip lead. Please, no harnesses or retractable leads.
  • A gundog whistle 211.5)
  • One or two of your puppy’s favourite toys or puppy dummies.
  • A water bowl and water for your puppy.
  • Poo bags.
  • For yourself: Sturdy, waterproof footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are essential! We will be training outdoors in February, so expect mud and cold weather.

Remember, patience and consistency are key. Every puppy learns at a different pace, and our aim is to celebrate the small victories and build a happy, confident canine partner.

We are incredibly excited to meet you and your promising young gundog on the 7th of February. Let the journey begin!
